Establishment & History

Changhua County is famous for its flourishing culture and numerous artistic talents. To fulfill the local need for art and balance the development among Changhua’s southern and northern culture, after a great effort, Yuanlin was finally chosen as the location to set up the performance hall, which is the county’s largest cultural building project to date.

With a base area of 1.261 hectare and spaces for a performance hall, small theater, exhibition room and library, etc., Yuanlin Performance Hall is a multifunctional art space that was planned, designed and supervised by Shao Dong Gang Architect and Associates. Construction was started on December 15, 1997 and the grand opening was on August 12, 2001. As a new milestone for the development of culture and art in Changhua, Yuanlin Performance Hall has introduced many art programs including those of music, theater and dance, etc. over the years, provided a platform for international culture and art communications, effectively cultivated the public’s art appreciation capabilities and helped Changhua to become a cultural city full of art and passion.

Directions

1. From National Freeway No. 1 at the location of South 207 North 209km, change into Expressway No.76 toward Yuanlin, exit at Yuanlin interchange, continue straight to Yuanji Road intersection and turn left, continue straight for 600 m to Chungcheng Road intersection and finally turn right; the bureau can be seen on the left side.
2. From Changhua by Provincial Road No. 1 toward Yuanlin, enter Yuanlin town and continue straight down Chungcheng Road, past Yuanlin Summary Court, and finally turn left at the intersection.
3. From Tienchung or Shetou north to Yuanlin town by Yuanji Road, over Expressway No.76, continue straight for 600 m and finally turn right at the intersection.
4. From Yeongjing by Provincial Road No. 1 north to Yuanlin town, turn right at Expressway No.76, continue straight over the railway bridge to Yuanji Road and turn left at the intersection, continue straight for 600 m and finally turn right at the intersection.
5. From Nantou by Expressway No. 76 to Baguashan tunnel, exit at Lincuo interchange, continue straight to Yuanji Road intersection and turn right on to Chungcheng Road, continue straight for 600 m and finally turn right at the intersection.
