Huangsi Art Exhibition was originally a local exhibition in Changhua County displaying artworks of local artists. Since the fourth exhibition, the organizer opened the exhibition competition up to other applicants outside Changhua County . There are a total of five categories for the competition including Chinese Ink and Gouache Painting, Oil and Watercolor Painting, Calligraphy and seal Engraving, 3D Arts , and Photography.

The organizer aimed to expand the local art exhibition into a governmental and regional art exhibition. Since the seventh exhibition, 2-D Digital Arts category was added to encourage New Media Art creations, reflect new-era trend of image arts and build up the new perspective of Huangsi Art Exhibition. The category witnesses new era of the youth creation. The exhibition invites national excellent artists to show their masterpieces with all their energy, enthusiasm, talent and new concepts of art creation.
